The Saint John Police are proud to recognize Detective Constable James Smith, a 14-year veteran of the Saint John Police, on his recent success at the World Police and Fire Games held from June 27 to July 6, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
The World Police and Fire Games is an Olympic-style competition that attracts more than 8,500 athletes representing law enforcement and firefighters from more than 50 countries across the world.
James has become well known internationally for large and small-bore shooting. He has been competing internationally in the Police and Fire Games since 2017; in Los Angeles (USA), Chengdu (China), Rotterdam (Netherlands), and Winnipeg (Canada). James holds more than 20 medals for his achievements over the years.
During the Games this year, James was awarded an impressive total of 8 medals and achieved a personal best high score:
Gold Medals:
- Large Bore Rifle – Individual – 20 shots at 200 yards, 300 yards, and 600 yards
- Large Bore Rifle – Team Canada – 20 shots at 200 yards, 300 yards, and 600 yards
- Large Bore Rifle – Individual – 60 Shots prone at 300 yards
Silver Medals:
- Large Bore Rifle – Team Canada – 60 shots at 300 yards
- Small Bore Rifle – Individual – 60 shots at 50 meters
- Small Bore Rifle – Team Canada – 60 shots at 50 meters
- Small Bore Rifle – Individual – 3 position (20 shots prone, kneeling, and standing)
Bronze Medal:
- Small Bore Rifle – Team Canada – 3 position (20 shots prone, kneeling, and standing)
