New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit recognized with national award

The Saint John Police Force is pleased to announce that the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (NBIEU) has been recognized as the national Unit winner of the RCMP’s 2024 Innovation in Crime Reduction Award.
The NBIEU is a collaborative partnership comprised of members from the New Brunswick RCMP, municipal police agencies, and the Department of Justice and Public Safety. The unit focuses on strengthening a coordinated response to the growing challenges of illicit drugs, firearms, and organized crime across New Brunswick.
The Saint John Police Headquarters serves as an operating location for one of the province’s Integrated Enforcement Units. Sergeant Tammy Spence, Saint John Police member, leads the Saint John Police Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU). The unit’s work has resulted in significant seizures of illegal drugs and firearms, as well as numerous high-profile arrests that have had a direct and positive impact on community safety.
“The Saint John IEU is a testament to the ongoing collaboration between all policing agencies in the province to provide a safe secure community. More importantly, this recognition highlights the tireless efforts of the unit’s operational members, who work relentlessly to target criminal elements involved in illegal drugs, firearms, and the victimization of our communities.” Chief R.M. Bruce
